The Bamboo plant is still widely used for many things in various cultures around the world, including the making  musical instruments.  The   use of Bamboo  can be trace back for thousand of years as far away as Australia* where the indigenous people made musical instruments including Bamboo flutes to celebrate their musical cultural heritage. Likewise the bamboo was used in Trinidad, probably as a percussion by the early indigenous people and later the enslaved Africans on the island between the early 1500's to 1900's.  The Chinese used the Bamboo joints as Barrels for their Fireworks before Marco Polo's journey to the East. There he saw the use of what is now called "GUN POWDER" as Fireworks as an expression of Chinese cultural new years celebration.

By the 1400th century the Europeans had began metal casting to make barrels for guns and cannons.** Their discovery of metallurgy was in an early state of development. The European passion metal expanded into the industrial revolution.
